Introduction
I have written a number of racing systems but this horse racing place betting strategy is unusual in that I am targeting only the Betfair place market and not the win market. Secondly it only applies to UK handicap horse racing. This is a great horse racing system as it exploits the quite lucrative Betfair place markets for finishing in the top 4 positions and in some races 6 positions!

How The Horse Racing Place Betting Strategy Works
The system works for UK Handicap Horse Races in the Betfair place markets and not win markets!
You will need access to the internet and the Racing Post website this is free.
You will need an account on Betfair Betting exchange as this horse racing system does not work with conventional bookmakers. Please note it must be the Betfair exchange and not the Betfair sportsbook.
This great website will help you back check horse races and their Betfair place market prices and if they finished placed or not.
Best UK Horse Racing Place Betting Strategy Markets
To obtain the maximum profit out of this system you will need to understand which are the best horse races ( Betfair placed markets ) to bet in. We look at an example horse racing day on the 13th March 2020. Yes this was the Cheltenham Festival but we will also look at ordinary Monday’s horse racing as well.
We are only interested in UK handicap horse races so this makes our selection process a little easier.

There were 24 runners in this race and there were 4 places being offered in the Betfair place market. In other words if your horse finished in the first 4 positions then you won.
The Betfair place market for this race below shows the horses Betfair placed decimal odds. Under the column ‘Won’ A value 1 indicates the horse finished in the first 4 positions in the race.

You can see there are some huge prices ( decimal odds ) for finishing in the top 4 positions in the race. Look at horses like Le Ligerien 13 and Tiger Voice 17
Now this race was very competitive and so it should be for a big meeting like this.
Rule 1 Decimal Odds Must Be Greater Than Or Equal To 4.0
This is a very important rule that must be followed to make this horse racing system profitable. We are only interested if the decimal odds of our selection is greater than or equal to 4.0 in the Betfair place market. ( Not the Betfair win market!!!!! ).
Why?
It is down to the fact when you win on 1 race ( the horse is placed ) at decimal odds 4.0 then you can lose three races and still break even. If you obtained decimal odds of 5.0 on your selection then you could lose 4 races and still break even.
Note : Now you could get even bigger odds in-play ( when the horse race has started but I will discuss this later ).
Rule 2 Selecting The Right UK Handicap Horse Race
The UK handicap horse race must have no less than 8 declared runners this is to ensure we get a minimum of 3 places in the race. In other words our selection can finish in the first 3 positions and we win.
Note: You could have 7 horses with 2 non runners so this race would still qualify as there were 9 horses declared to run so Betfair 3 places would still apply.
Horse races with 16 runners or more we win if our horse selection finishes in the first 4 positions.
